Ostin Cittarista lasten Lego Racers pelin, jossa kannessa monessa kohtaa luvataan yhteensopivuus XP:lle. Sisällä vuodelta 1999 suomenkielisissä ohjeissa ei sitten luvatakaan ( http://www.lego.com/eng/interactive/prod...PC&ACTION=Specs ) vaan readme-ohjeessa todetaan, että "Peli ei ole yhteensopiva Windows NT:n,OS/2:n,Linuxin tai Windowsia jäljittelevien järjestelmien kanssa." XP-hän ilmoittaa olevansa NT versio.
No joka tapauksessa päätin kokeilla asennusta. Asennus onnistui eikä ongelmia ilmennyt. Jätin cd:llä olevan directx v.6.1:n asentamatta koska koneellani oli jo ver.9.jne...
Ongelma on siinä ettei peli suostu avautumaan vaan antaa ilmoituksen:
Fatal error -Unable to set message drain!
Kokeilin sekä XPH:ssa ja XPP. Tehoja molemmissa koneilla riittää. Myös olempiin koneisiin on tehty kaikki XP:n päivitykset.
Asensin toiseen koneeseen myös tuon Directx ver 6.1 cd:ltä, mutta sekään ei korjannut tilannetta.
Etsinko jostain vikaa ja mistä?
Vai uskonko ettei sovi XP-koneeseen ja palautan pelin Cittariin.
Issue I am getting an error message 'UNABLE TO SET MESSAGE DRAIN'

Solution First we should uninstall LEGO Racers completely from the system. Follow the instructions below to uninstall and reinstall the software. You should also make the other changes listed to correct the error.
2. It will ask you to confirm file deletion, and you should click YES. Once it is through uninstalling you will need to click OK to close the uninstall shield wizard.
3. Insert the CD into the CD-Drive and the auto install should begin.
4. Close down any open Windows and go back to the Desktop. Find the shortcut for LEGO RACERS and right-click on it. From the drop down menu that appears, left-click on PROPERTIES.
5. On the PROPERTIES screen find the box called TARGET, it should read something like "C:\Program Files\LEGO Media\Games\LEGO Racers\LEGORacers.exe".
6. Add -novideo to the end of this line so that it becomes "C:\Program Files\LEGO Media\Games\LEGO Racers\LEGORacers.exe" -novideo
7. Click on APPLY and then OK (or possibly CLOSE).
