Warning Rekisterin muokkaus virheelliseksi tai toisella tavalla voi johtaa vakaviin ongelmiin järjestelmään. Nämä ongelmat katoavat vain asentamalla käyttöjärjestelmä uudestaan. Microsot ei takaa sitä että tämä ohje korjaa ongelman. Muokkaat rekisteriä omalla vastuullasi.
1. Poista merkinnät jotka viittaavat kyseiseen (mikä se nyt on?):
a. Käynnistä kone vikasietotilaan (Safe Mode).
b. Varmuuskopioi rekisteri
c. Paina Start, Run, kirjoita regedit, ja paina OK.
d. Paikallista ja poista seuraava avain:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\RESET5
e. Paikallista ja paina seuraavaa avainta:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents
f. Oikeassa paneelissa(?), Paina oikealla hiiren napilla OOBETimer, ja sitten Modify.
g. Muuta mitä tahansa OOBETimer rekisteriavaimen digit(?) ja paina OK.

3. Remove malicious files. To do this, follow these steps:
0a. Click Start, click Search, and then search for all the following files in the Windows folder. Delete any files that you find.

? Reset5.dt*
b. Delete the %systemroot%\System32\Srvany.exe file.
c. Restart the computer in normal mode.
4. Reactivate Windows. To do this, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Activate Windows.
b. If the Windows Product Activation Wizard prompts you to activate Windows, follow the instructions in the wizard, and then activate Windows XP again.
c. Restart the computer, and then start the wizard again to confirm that it does not prompt for activation again.
d. If the Windows Product Activation Wizard displays the "Windows is already activated" message, click OK to close the wizard.
